One of the key priorities for the Government is “levelling up”. Quite what that might mean is the subject of much debate. Things may become clearer when the promised White Paper is published, but many fear the central South risks losing out to the North and Midlands, notwithstanding the challenges many of our communities face.

SPC has been exploring how the social and economic pressures parts of our region face compare with areas which may be the target for Government investment. We’ll be presenting our research at an on-line seminar at 9.30am on 30th July. We’ll also hear about how South Hampshire Councils have been co-ordinating their response to funding opportunities and get a response to our research from the Leader of Southampton City Council. There’ll be an opportunity to discuss how we should make our region’s case to Government.
