Immigration is one of the most topical issues in Southampton. On Saturday 13th December 2014, local citizens attended the Southampton Conversation to discuss immigration policy with fellow citizens and experts.

After all, everyone has a view on immigration. What we found was that people’s views changed after becoming better informed and more engaged with the issues. And people even developed their own policies to tackle some of the issues raised.

This was the first in our new Deliberative Polling project. At a time when more people than ever feel that politics doesn’t involve them we find new ways to bring citizens into decision making. Our innovative deliberative polling process helps public organisations do just that, and provides new insight into subjects ranging from migration policy to grants budget allocation.
